Between fascination and curiosity

Fraforeano Park, is a park rich in history; who tells you "Ciccinella Kechler"; as in all stories of women and gardens, the common denominator is the passion! Is perceived through the words of Ciccinella, which tells the story of Fraforeano Park, sharing it with readers of Fiori&Forchette.

The Fraforeano Historical Park is located in the municipality of Ronchis, province of Udine, in the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Is annexed to the eighteenth-century Villa de Kechler de Asarta and extends over an area of almost 3 hectares, along the Bank of the Tagliamento. Born on a project by Giuseppe Jappelli, famous landscape architect who designed in the mid-nineteenth century a park which now no longer exists along the river Stella and Tagliamento River this, whose waters, conveyed through a canal, up form a central lake, sown by islets with hundreds of varieties of plants.

It was 1948, when the writer Ernest Hemingway was presented to Frederick Kechler who accompanied him to fish in the Valley ... Thus was born the great friendship that lasted the rest of his life ... This however is another story related to the Park ...

Our story told by Kechler Ciccinella ...

One day about 8 years ago, taking a walk in the Park, I decided that it was necessary to put your hands, because despite being a "minor" Park reflected a historic period, a botanical garden, a project to raise awareness and not least because my family had a duty/right to keep it.

We began to clear the underbrush and give perspectives and views. For two winters had practically no other, we helped the civil protection of Ronchis and Fraforeano country volunteers. Then friends intervened that they began to cut larger, trees grew everywhere but that there could no longer stand, and slowly reappeared here a drawing, there an added value, there a view so far denied, here a landscape unthought.

The most beautiful and important trees recovered their status, put in perspective value and the disappearance of essences that hid the scope. The avenues were restored, adding gravel and by planting, which was missing, the convallaria that all bounds. Gabriele took care of some plants, especially a horse chestnut, poplar, white oak, dry branches cutting and tying together the most unstable, has operated phyto-therapeutic interventions on other important essences, Redwoods, Cedars, magnolias, Thuja bushes and taxi.

We have restored the bridges that lead to the Islands and clean the shores where stand the pneumofori of taxodium that surround the pond. We fertilized lawns. We found out that you thought a rate is a Torreya Nucifera, a rare but very popular in Japan and that a Tuja Plicata is a Calocedrum Decurrens, friends or lovers of botanical passage make us aware ...When are there not a day goes by without an intervention without a small or high-maintenance, without a project to share with Dario, who knows how to do everything.

Once is the bora who fells a immense and two taxodium Thuja, once the Borer that is made outside the 100-year-old bossi, not to mention countless small daily damage which can cope with the most timely manner possible. However, that satisfaction!

In the spring I'll soon get to enjoy the spectacle of light that gradually illuminates the leaves: at that time, their different shades of green are an added richness and feels the contagious energy of nature which resumes its cycle. Well autumn is charming with the reds of taxodium and beech trees, the yellows of ginko and tulipa, orange of Lagestremie. Flowers there is for the time being, I'd like to create flower beds in the pond. We'll See.
Greetings and best wishes! Ciccinella Kechler
